Virtual Couples Intensives
Two or three days of focused repair, from your own home.
Weekly sessions can end just as the real conversation begins. An intensive gives you and your partner uninterrupted time to understand your patterns, repair what has been damaged, and leave with a plan. Our virtual intensives carry the same Rooted Method as our in-person work, and the experience arrives at your door before we ever meet on screen.
Virtual intensives begin at $2,950.
Why couples choose an intensive
Most couples come to us after months or years of the same argument. A 50-minute session rarely has room to slow that cycle down, let alone change it. An intensive does. Over two or three days, we move from understanding how you got here to practicing a new way of being together.
Why virtual works
Research on couples therapy by video has found outcomes comparable to in-person work in relationship satisfaction and the strength of the therapeutic relationship. Many couples find it easier to open up at home. What matters is structure, skilled guidance, and a space that feels set apart, and that is what we design for.
The ROOTED box
About a week before your intensive, a box arrives at your home. It stays sealed until our first session, when you open it together on camera.
Your ROOTED workbook
A printed companion you each write in during and after the intensive.
The ROOTED scent
A candle you light only during our sessions, so the scent becomes a cue for calm long after we finish.
An original soundtrack
Music written and recorded for ROOTED couples, used in our regulation practices and yours to keep.
A bath ritual
Salts, oil, and a guided sequence for the evening after your hardest day.
Pieces for the closing
What you need for the ceremony that ends your intensive. We keep the details for the day itself.
A protected space
A door hanger, a pouch for your phones, and a stand that keeps you both in frame.
Your intensive begins the moment you open it together.
The Rooted Method
Every intensive follows one arc in four stages. Our approach blends the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and holistic mind-body work, and the depth of each stage scales with the format you choose.
Foundation
Understanding the cycle you are caught in, and where each of you is on the other side of it.
Repair
Guided conversations about the hurts that have not healed, with the pace and safety to get through them.
Rebuild
New agreements, new habits, and practice using them while we are still with you.
Stabilization
Your go-home plan: warning signs, repair tools, and a 30, 60, and 90-day path.
What the days feel like
Each day runs about five to six hours on camera, with real breaks built in. You stay together in one room, in one frame.
The opening
You open your box together, we review your ROOTED pre-assessments, and we map the pattern you want to change.
The hard middle
This is where the most important conversations happen. We slow them down and keep them safe.
The release
After the hardest session, the work moves into the body. Where available in your area, we book and cover an in-home couples massage with a licensed therapist. Elsewhere, you receive a spa gift near home. The evening closes with guided partner connection and your bath ritual.
The closing
Your intensive ends at sunset, in a place that means something to the two of you. We will guide you there.

Is this right for you?
A virtual intensive is a strong fit if you keep having the same fight, if trust has been broken, if one of you is considering leaving but has not decided, or if weekly sessions have not moved you forward.
You will need a private room where you cannot be overheard, a reliable internet connection, and a shared willingness to show up, even if one of you is hesitant.
When we will recommend something else
An intensive is not the right starting point when there is abuse or a safety concern in the relationship, an active addiction that is not being treated, or an ongoing affair. We will talk honestly about this during your consultation and help you find the right next step.

Questions couples ask
Does a virtual intensive really work as well as in person?
Studies comparing couples therapy by video and in person have found similar results for relationship satisfaction and for the relationship between the couple and the clinician. The structure of the intensive, the preparation, and the follow-up matter more than whether we share a room.
What is the difference between the California and out-of-state intensives?
California residents receive clinical couples therapy from a California-licensed clinician. Couples who live in other states receive a relationship coaching intensive. Coaching is educational and skills-based. It is not therapy and does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions. The structure, box, and experience are the same.
Do we need to be in the same room?
Yes. You join together from one private space, on one screen, so we can see how you respond to each other in real time.
What if things get heated or one of us wants to stop?
Strong emotions are expected, and the intensive is paced for them. We build in breaks, use regulation practices throughout, and agree before we start on what happens if one of you needs to step away.
Is the massage really included?
Yes. Where a licensed in-home massage service operates near you, we book and cover a couples massage for the afternoon of your second day. Where it does not, we send a spa gift for a massage close to home.
What does it cost?
Virtual intensives begin at $2,950. We walk through each format and its investment during your free consultation. A $1,000 non-refundable deposit reserves your dates.
Would we be better off coming to San Diego in person?
Some couples choose to travel for the full in-person experience in Mission Valley. You can compare both options on our couples intensives page, and we are happy to help you decide.
