    Dr. Regina Ransom is a licensed marriage and family therapist, holistic health practitioner, and visionary entrepreneur committed to reimagining mental health care through an integrated, whole-person lens. As the founder and clinical director of New Birth Family Counseling, she leads a dynamic team offering a luxurious, spiritually grounded approach to therapy and wellness in both California and Nevada.

    With a unique background in psychology, nursing, and naturopathic wellness, Dr. Ransom blends clinical expertise with holistic practices—providing care that honors the mind, body, and spirit. Her work is grounded in the belief that true healing requires a rebirth of self-awareness, knowledge, and spiritual alignment.

    Dr. Ransom holds multiple advanced degrees, including:

    Dual Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Nursing

    Four Master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Addiction Counseling, and Psychiatric Mental Health

    A passionate advocate for generational wellness, she combines clinical science with ancestral wisdom to help individuals and families heal, realign, and flourish.

  • Cori Harral LPCC

    Head Therapist

    Cori Harral is a licensed marriage and family therapist and the head therapist at New Birth Family Counseling. She brings a wealth of clinical expertise in working with youth and young adults, with a strong focus on helping clients navigate anxiety, emotional dysregulation, identity development, and life transitions.

    Cori has extensive training in trauma-informed care and is highly skilled in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Her integrative, evidence-based approach empowers clients to build emotional resilience, develop coping skills, and transform limiting belief systems.

    Known for her warm, grounded presence and her ability to connect authentically with clients, Cori is passionate about creating a safe and supportive space where healing and growth can take root, especially for youth facing complex emotional and behavioral challenges.

  • Melissa Gone

    Clinical Intern

    Melissa Gone is a bilingual clinical intern at New Birth Family Counseling, bringing extensive experience working with clients experiencing severe mental illness, crisis situations, and suicide risk. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Melissa is passionate about providing accessible, culturally sensitive care to diverse communities.

    With a strong background in crisis response and high-acuity mental health support, she has worked with individuals facing complex challenges, including psychosis, suicidal ideation, and emotional instability. Her ability to remain calm and compassionate under pressure allows her to build trust quickly, even in the most urgent situations.

    Melissa’s trauma-informed, client-centered approach is grounded in empathy and clinical integrity. As she completes her graduate training, she continues to play an essential role in helping clients stabilize, heal, and find hope through therapeutic support.

  • Val Hughes

    Administrative Assistant | Substance Counselor

    Val Hughes is the administrative assistant and substance abuse counselor at New Birth Family Counseling. With over a decade of experience in the field of addiction and recovery, Val brings both clinical insight and compassionate care to her work with clients and the overall functioning of the practice.

    In addition to her administrative role—where she serves as the first point of contact for many clients—Val facilitates both in-person and online trauma and recovery groups, drawing on her deep knowledge of substance use disorders and relapse prevention. Her approach is rooted in empathy, structure, and accountability.

    Val is currently pursuing her graduate degree to become a licensed therapist, further deepening her commitment to helping individuals heal from trauma and substance use. Her lived experience, professional training, and calming presence make her an invaluable part of the New Birth team.
