About New Birth Family Counseling
Integrative therapy in San Diego that begins with knowing why.
New Birth Family Counseling was built on one belief: that lasting healing requires understanding the root cause, not just managing the symptoms. We combine evidence-based therapy, herbal medicine, and functional nutrition to treat the whole person. Mind, body, and spirit.
"True healing is not the absence of symptoms. It is the restoration of wholeness in your body, your relationships, and your sense of self."

My journey into healing didn't begin in a classroom. It began in a garden. As a child, I was raised by a grandmother who grew her own herbs and taught me that the earth held medicine. She showed me how plants could support the body, ease pain, and restore balance long before I ever knew words like "integrative health" or "functional medicine."
I also served in the United States Navy as a nuclear engineer. That work was about finding the actual fault in a complex system rather than patching whatever showed up on the gauge, and it is the same instinct I bring to clinical care. It's the reason this practice looks for root causes instead of managing symptoms.
That experience also shapes how I work with service members, veterans, and military families today. I understand the culture, the pace, and the particular kind of weight people carry home, because I carried it too. Learn more about our work with veterans and military families.
I carried that wisdom with me as I pursued my education in psychology and nursing, and later trained at a school specializing in natural medicine. I went on to earn two doctorates, one in counselor education and clinical supervision and one in mind-body medicine. My goal was always the same: to one day offer care that honored both clinical science and ancestral knowledge, the kind of healing that sees a person whole.
"It was a profound personal health journey in my adult life that changed everything. When faced with a serious diagnosis, I chose a natural path. Through six months of herbal medicine, functional nutrition, and deep intentional healing, I experienced a transformation I will never forget."
That experience became the foundation of New Birth Family Counseling. Not as a rejection of modern medicine, but as a conviction about what becomes possible when we look for root causes instead of only suppressing symptoms.
Today I bring that same conviction to every client I work with. Whether you are a woman carrying the weight of unresolved trauma, a couple on the edge of breaking, or someone whose body and mind have both been telling you something is wrong, I built this practice for you.
New Birth is not just a name. It is a promise that no matter where you are, a new beginning is possible.
Three pillars of whole-person care
Most therapy practices treat the mind. Most medical practices treat the body. At NBFC we believe these cannot be separated. Lasting healing happens when all three dimensions are addressed together.
Care built on conviction,
not protocol.
We don't offer cookie-cutter treatment plans or rush you through sessions. Every client at NBFC receives a personalized approach built around their history, physiology, relationships, and goals.
These are the beliefs that guide every decision we make, from how we structure sessions to who we hire.
Your healing is not just possible.
It is within reach.
Whether you are navigating trauma, a relationship in crisis, or a body and mind that have been sending you signals you have not yet been able to answer, we are here. Appointments available early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
