What makes our groups different

Not a webinar and not a classroom. A real therapy group, built for how kids and teens actually connect.

Led by therapistsEvery group is led by a New Birth clinician, with a co-facilitator watching out for each child.
Parents stay in the loopA weekly email shows what your child is learning and how to support it at home, plus two parent-only sessions.
Progress you can seeWe measure where your child starts and where they finish, and walk you through the results.
Mind and body togetherKids learn how worry shows up in the body and how to calm it, not just how to talk about it.
Small by designNo more than 6 children in Brave Kids and 8 teens in Teen Real Talk, so no one gets lost on the screen.

Join the waitlist

Groups begin once enough families have joined. We'll reach out to schedule a free parent call as soon as a spot opens.

Joining the waitlist is free and doesn't commit you to anything. Please don't include detailed health information here; we'll talk through everything on your call.

Questions parents ask

If you don't see your question here, add it to the waitlist form and we'll answer it on your call.

Will my child really open up on Zoom?

Most kids are more comfortable on screen than parents expect. Our groups are small and active, with games, drawing, movement, and short check-ins rather than long lectures. Two facilitators make sure quiet children are included at their own pace.

Do parents join the sessions?

Kids and teens join on their own, with a parent at home but out of the room. Parents receive a short email after each session explaining the skill of the week and how to support it at home. Brave Kids also includes two parent-only sessions.

Is this therapy?

Yes. These are therapy groups led by New Birth clinicians under clinical supervision. Each child has a brief screening first to make sure group is the right fit. If individual therapy would serve your child better, we'll tell you and help you find the right next step.

Do you take insurance?

We are a private-pay practice, which keeps groups small and personal. We provide superbills, so families with out-of-network benefits may be able to request partial reimbursement from their insurance.

What if we live outside San Diego?

Groups are fully online, so any family in California can join. Your child must be located in California during each session.

When do groups start?

Our next groups begin in January 2027. Each group starts once at least four families have enrolled, so joining the waitlist early is the best way to secure a spot.

If your child is in crisis or thinking about harming themselves, please call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. These groups are not an emergency service.
