Christian & Faith-Integrated Counseling
Counseling That Honors Your Faith and Your Whole Self
For Christians who want their faith in the room, not left at the door. We blend genuine, evidence-based therapy with your beliefs, so you never have to choose between good clinical care and your walk with God.
Your faith doesn't have to wait outside the therapy room.
Many believers have sat in counseling that quietly sidestepped the most important part of who they are. Others have found faith-based support that offered prayer but not real clinical help. At New Birth, a Christian-founded practice, you do not have to pick one or the other. We bring skilled, evidence-based therapy and your faith into the same conversation, at whatever depth feels right to you.
What we help with
Real life, held with faith
Faith-integrated counseling can support you through the same struggles any good therapy addresses, with room for the spiritual questions woven through them:
- Anxiety and worry
- Depression and low seasons
- Trauma and painful experiences
- Marriage and relationship struggles
- Grief and loss
- Life transitions and big decisions
- Purpose, calling, and identity
- Guilt, shame, and forgiveness
- Doubt and hard questions of faith
- Burnout, including ministry burnout
- Boundaries and people-pleasing
- Reconciling faith with mental health
Always your call
Faith comes in at your invitation, never ours
You lead. We follow. Faith integration happens only to the degree you want it.
For some, that means opening or closing in prayer, drawing on scripture, and exploring what God may be doing in a hard season. For others, it simply means working with a therapist who understands and respects their faith without ever pushing it. You can dial it up, dial it down, or change your mind anytime. This is your space.
Our whole-person approach
Mind, body, and spirit, together
New Birth was built on the conviction that healing reaches further when we treat the whole person. Faith is not an add-on here. It is part of how we see you.
Mind
Evidence-based therapy, including EMDR, CBT, and other proven approaches, for what you are carrying.
Body
A whole-child and whole-person view that recognizes stress and healing live in the body too.
Spirit
Space for meaning, purpose, and your relationship with God as part of real healing.
Clinically grounded
This is still real, professional therapy
Faith-integrated does not mean faith instead of clinical care. You are working with a licensed, trained clinician using evidence-based methods. The difference is that your faith is welcome in the work, not treated as something to set aside. You get both: sound therapy and a therapist who honors what you believe.
Come as you are
You don't have to have it all together
You do not need to be a "perfect" Christian, have every answer, or be in a strong season of faith to come here. Doubt is welcome. Questions are welcome. Wherever you are on the journey, you will be met with warmth and without judgment.

Common questions
Questions people ask
What is Christian counseling?
It is professional therapy that welcomes your Christian faith into the work. You get evidence-based clinical care from a licensed therapist, with room for prayer, scripture, and spiritual questions to the degree you want them.
Is it just prayer and Bible study?
No. This is real therapy using proven clinical methods. Faith is woven in at your invitation, but it never replaces sound treatment.
Will you push your beliefs on me?
Never. Faith integration is entirely led by you. You decide how much or how little enters the room, and you can change that at any time.
Do I have to be very religious, or have strong faith?
Not at all. You are welcome whether your faith is strong, shaky, or full of questions. Doubt and struggle are part of many people's journeys, and they are welcome here.
Can we use prayer or scripture in session?
Yes, if you would like to. Many clients appreciate opening or closing in prayer or drawing on scripture. It is always optional.
Can faith-integrated counseling help with anxiety, trauma, or marriage?
Yes. We support anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and relationship struggles with the same clinical care as our other services, with space for your faith throughout.
Do you take insurance?
New Birth is a private-pay practice. We provide superbills you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement, though reimbursement is never guaranteed. Current rates are on our fees page.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. We meet clients in person at our Mission Valley office in San Diego and by secure telehealth anywhere in California.
