Where we fit in a child's care

Two children pediatricians tell us they struggle to place

New Birth looks at the whole child, including the body. That makes us a strong fit for two situations general talk therapy referrals do not always resolve.

The clean workup with lingering physical complaints

Recurring stomachaches, headaches, fatigue, or sleep trouble, with a medical workup that comes back normal. These children are often carrying anxiety or stress that is showing up in the body. We help families understand what may be happening beneath the symptom while staying in close, collaborative contact with your office.

The child who has plateaued in therapy elsewhere

Families who have already tried counseling and feel stuck. Our whole-child, mind-body approach considers nervous-system regulation, sleep, routines, and family environment alongside the emotional work, which can open up progress when talk alone has not been enough.

Military-connected children. As a veteran-owned practice in a heavily military region, New Birth understands deployment cycles, frequent moves, and the particular stresses these children and their families carry.

Coordinated, in scope

When medical evaluation may also be helpful

Because we use a mind-body approach, we recognize that some emotional or behavioral symptoms may overlap with medical factors. New Birth does not diagnose medical conditions. When a child's symptoms suggest that medical factors may also need consideration, we encourage families to follow up with their pediatrician or another appropriate healthcare provider.

This keeps you in the loop as the child's medical home while we focus on the emotional and behavioral picture.

Collaborative care when appropriate

With appropriate written authorization, and when it is clinically beneficial, New Birth may coordinate with pediatricians and other providers involved in a child's care. Collaboration may include clinically appropriate communication regarding:

  • Treatment participation
  • Relevant clinical concerns
  • Care coordination
  • Recommendations for additional evaluation
  • Continuity of care

Information is never shared automatically. Coordination happens only with proper authorization.
